Saturday, July 14th

Hudson, MA  10  Apponaug, RI  0

The Cal Ripken 12U New England Regional Tournament kicked off at Dube Field with Hudson, MA facing off against Apponaug, RI.  Hudson broke the game open in the fourth inning scoring 8.  The big hit of the day was a grand slam by Jackson O’Brien, who also had a strong pitching performance.

New Canaan, CT  5  Keene, NH  1

Keene, NH held a 1-0 lead going into the top of the sixth inning, then New Canaan, CT scored 5 to take the lead.  Hits from Danny Rogers, Alex Benevento, Abe Wheeler and Mason Pickering sparked the rally for New Canaan.  Mitch Cormier pitched 5 scoreless innings for Keene.

Freetown-Lakeville, MA  6  Dover, NH  5

The game got off to a fast start offensively with Dover scoring 3 in the top of the first inning, but Freetown-Lakeville responded with 5 runs in the bottom half of the inning.  Dover tied the game in the top of the sixth inning on a wild pitch scoring Ryder Aubin.  In extra innings, in the bottom of the ninth, Freetown-Lakeville won the game on a single up the middle by Trevor Sargent. 

Nashua, NH  9  North Middlesex, MA 1

Nashua got off to a solid start in the tournament with Jordyn Andino’s 3 run home run in the first inning to get things going for Nashua.  Ryan Haskell, Jordyn Andino, and Thomas Campbell had multiple hits for Nashua.  Ryan Arsenault scored for North Middlesex.

Sunday, July 15th

Nashua, NH 13 vs Freetown Lakeville, MA 2

Nashua remained in the winner’s bracket with a convincing win over Freetown Lakeville.  Nashua got things going in the 3rd inning scoring seven runs.  Ryan Haskell (3 RBI’s), Jordan Joyal (4 RBI’s), Cam Brown and Thomas Campbell had multiple hits for Nashua.  Derek Finley also had two RBI’s for Nashua.  Cam Brown got the start for Nashua to earn the win.

Apponaug, RI 2  Keene, NH 0

Apponaug remained alive in the tournament by defeating Keene.  Brayden Adler-Marano pitched a complete game shut-out to secure the win for Apponaug.  Apponaug scored on a passed ball in the 2nd and wild pitch in the 3rd.  Brock Haynes and Evan Gutkowski pitched well for Keene, but it wasn’t enough.

Hudson, MA 4  New Canaan, CT 3 

Hudson stays in the winner’s bracket by winning a tight game against New Canaan.  Jackson O’Brien had the game winning home run in the fifth for Hudson. New Canaan scored all their runs in the third on hits from Jack Sheffield and Danny Rogers. 

Dover, NH 4  North Middlesex, MA 2

Dover stays alive with a thrilling win over North Middlesex.  The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Dover scored 2 runs.  Dover scored 2 in the inning on a passed ball and RBI double by Bryce Carberry.  North Middlesex came right back in the 6th scoring 2 on a clutch double by Zach Werner.  Then, the stage was set in the bottom half of the inning when Dover’s Ryder Aubin hit the 1st pitch onto Harris Road for the walk-off homerun.  Ashton Donia went the distance for North Middlesex and pitched well.

Monday, July 16th

Freetown Lakeville, MA 1  Apponaug, RI 0 (7 Innings)

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 7th.  Trevor Sargent lifted a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Connor Trip on a close play at the plate.  Dylan Roberts pitched 6 strong innings for Apponaug, but it wasn’t enough. 

Dover, NH 14 New Canaan, CT 2

Dover broke open a tight game in the 4th scoring 6.  Tim McGregor, Judah Payeur, and Bryce Carberry had multiple hits For Dover.  Charlie Covert (Dover) had 3 runs scored. Sam Bisesi and Ted Cooney each had an RBI for New Canaan.
